Session Zero: Stark
Time & Location
About the Event
Stark, the free city. A state unbeholden to any but those with the drive and power to see out their dreams. The governments of the world despise it, but simultaneously need it. Stark represents everything Feudal and Monarchical states hate and strives to stamp out, freedom and free thinking. But being the single largest and most diverse centre for trade and arcanoligical advancement in the known world makes it difficult for other governments to ignore the opportunity. To embargo Stark is to condemn your country to a slow and agonising fiscal death over many decades.
Stark is ruled by the most powerful individuals in the known world, the Dodec Council. A collection of the richest and most influential individuals on the face of Onua. There is one qualification to sit on the council, wealth. Only the twelve richest people in Stark can claim a seat. As such there are constant and fierce political conflicts between council members and those just out of a reach for the bottom seat.
Where there’s money there’s crime, and Stark has a plethora of gangs and syndicates plying their grisly trade all over, under and above the city. But its not all bad news. Stark and the great minds housed within its walls have been responsible for every major arcanological advancement over the last century. It is a prominent seat of learning and culture, and its forward thinking and open-minded ideals allow unhindered thinking and progress. That coupled with the ridiculous amount of wealth flowing through the city makes a potent combination.
It is into this melting pot that you are all thrust. Those who wish to make a name for themselves as heros, philosophers, arcanists, political figures, well… anything, make their way to Stark eventually. It is a true land of opportunity that can devour the unwary. If you have a dream, Stark can make it a reality, but first you must get your foot on the proverbial ladder…
Stark is an urban fantasy campaign using the D&D 5e rules. As a party you’ll be thrown into the political and cultural melting pot that is Stark, will you sink or swim? We’ll find out…
