About the Course
Outside of the intro-session, call classes will be held weekly on Wednesdays, 8pm BST, using a combination of Zoom, Discord, and Roll20.
1.
Introductory Session (~1hr)
(Full Students Only)
Meet your instructor and mentors and learn more about the course itself, and have a chance to tell us what you are hoping to get out of the course.
2.
Prepping for a Game (~3hr)
(Drop-in Available)
Make sure you have everything you need to be able to run a game today. Work out what materials you’ll need, learn how to break down a monster stat block, create an interesting NPC, manage your table, and more…
3.
Running an Encounter (~3hr)
(Drop-in Available)
What makes a combat encounter exciting and fun? Learn how to run a combat encounter from initiative to victory as we go through setting a D.C., when to assign advantage and disadvantage, and how to make all of this sound and feel epic.
4.
Encounters (~3hr)
(Full Students Only)
This is your chance to be in the GMs seat as you take the rest of us through your own combat encounter and get some constructive feedback. Don’t worry, we’re all in the same boat here and we’re not expecting perfection.
5.
Running a Game (~3hr)
Whether it’s a one-shot or a campaign we’ve got you covered. Learn how to set up your story, hook your players in, arrange your encounters, guide them to the gripping climax, and, most importantly, learn how to improvise when everything goes wrong.
6.
Creating a Homebrew Game (~3hr)
(Drop-in Available)
You know how to tell a story, now learn to tell your story. Learn how to create a brand new and original campaign or one-shot as we go through classic story tropes, picking a setting, creating villains, structuring a story, using side quests, how to start, how to expand, and how to react to your player’s choices as the story progresses.
7.
One-shots (~3hr)
(Full Students Only)
We will work with the students to schedule out student-led One-shot adventures! The party members will be made up of the other students. Detailed feedback will be given to the student afterward to allow them to improve their Game!
